Business Developer, Landscape & Planning
We are looking for a new member to join our Business Development team in Copenhagen focusing on new project pursuits globally focused on landscape, master planning and public realm projects.

As Business Development in Landscape Manager, you will support BIG in looking for new frontiers and projects that shape the future of our cities. You will be involved in developing market strategies, new client relationships, and securing new projects across a range of landscape typologies. On a day-to-day basis, the Business Developer will be responsible for securing a project from start to finish, overseeing submarkets within the regions, initiating proactive endeavors that support the larger market strategy, overseeing background tasks, and building relationships with a vast network of clients, consultants, and collaborators. As Business Developer, you will work directly with the Business Development Manager and Global Landscape Partner, as well as the larger Copenhagen office leadership and operations team led by the Managing Director in Copenhagen.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Run several simultaneous pursuits from start to finish including:
    • Ability to turn a lead into a project
    • Run an acquisition including the development of a fee proposal and leading of subsequent negotiations with clients and consultants (including internal operations team members at BIG—such as finance, legal, operations, etc. as well as engagement with Director or Global Landscape Partner when terms are modified) and the handover to a Design Team
    • Vet all RFPs/RFQs/RFIs related to landscape, master planning & public realm. Have the ability to produce and oversee the submission. Present strategic ideas within the submission and teaming process that distinguish the firm’s submission and point of view
  • Produce content independently while discussing key strategy points with Director, Global Landscape Partner & team
  • Maintain and expand Client and collaborator connections
    Host meetings with potential Clients with Director or Partners, and lead the follow-up with the Client and internally assess and develop recommendations for the new potential projects
  • Give office and project tours for Clients, consultants, and other VIPs
  • Maintain CRM databases (Sugar, Open Asset, Airtable) and present reporting on new projects and potential projects to Director; act as point person for one of the CRM databases
  • Assist with training of new team members, manage and contribute to team background tasks, and have the ability to manage output for any of the above processes
  • Run and participate in regular Business Development meetings across all BIG offices
  • Prepare status updates, ad-hoc and on a weekly basis
Join us on our mission if you are an individual who has:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, marketing, business, communication or related field of study
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar or related position
  • An understanding of landscape architecture, design, and urban planning processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English (fluency in another language a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and manage one’s own time
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel), and CRM systems
Compensation for this role is based on relevant experience.
